Ac-cordingly from 1 April 1948 , as a preliminary step to-wards this , its appellate jurisdiction was enlarged by conf erring upon it the power to hear appeals from any judgment , decree or final order of a High Court in a civil case from which direct appeal could have been brought to His Majesty in Council , that is , the Privy Council ei-ther with or without special leave . तदनुसार , 1 अप्रैल 1948 से , आरंभिक पग के रूप में , इसे सभी सिविल मामलों में किसी भी उच्च न्यायालय के किसी ऐसे निर्णय , डिक्री या अंतिम आदेश की अपील सुनने की अधिकारिता प्रदान की गई जिसकी , विशेष अनुमति देकर अथवा उसके बिना ही , सीधी अपील सपरिषद सम्राट यानी प्रिवी काउंसिल को की जा सकती थी .
